Monitoring and evaluation

What can SAGO Research do for you?

Monitoring, evaluation and learning are inseparably connected. To interpret and explain the results of projects, programmes and policy in their totality, monitoring and evaluation are important. Monitoring and evaluation are different, but certainly interlinked activities. Monitoring is mainly focused on following progress of a project or programme by systematically gathering and analysing data. Evaluation concentrates on the systematic and purposeful gathering and analysis of information with the aim to assess the result or the progress made in terms of relevance, effectiveness, efficiency and/or sustainability. Monitoring and evaluation complement each other. Evaluations give information whether the right things are done and/or whether the things have been done in the right way. Learning from evaluations is certainly not a fashionable trend. The aim is to make sure that the project or the programme or the organisation and eventually the society functions in a better way. This learning process can be optimized by preparing well for evaluation and structure the evaluation process.
